Nonfarm payroll employment in September increased by 136,000, seasonally adjusted, from August and by 2,147,000 (1.4%) year-over-year (y/y) from September 2018, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported today.
The value of "new construction starts dropped 6% over the month in August" at a seasonally adjusted annual rate from the rate in July, Dodge Data & Analytics reported on Monday. "August's decline breaks a string of three consecutive month-to-month gains. By major sector, nonbuilding construction fell 15% in August, reversing the large increases made in the previous month when several notable projects started.
