"Every day, hundreds of people ask me if it's too late to learn a skill, or master a trade, or change the road they're on. My answer is always the same. No - it's never too late." - Mike Rowe, Social media post on February 18, 2021
I appreciate Mike Rowe, host of Dirty Jobs, because he speaks plainly and tells things like they are. Like his quote above, he sometimes has to even just remind us of the obvious. It is never too late to learn a new skill – at work, at home, or even as a volunteer.
If you look at the C3 team, you will see we are all learning new skills. Diane is learning marketing strategies to support getting more companies to engage with and embrace the C3 mission. Reba is building skills in process and project management needed to deploy our Craft Training Endorsement Program. Nick is actively learning the construction industry while also learning some carpentry skills on the side.
In a small organization, everyone ends up wearing multiple hats and that forces the acquiring of new skills. Many C3 Accredited Employers have had to designate a person to manage their craft training programs, which in turn has created new skillsets inside the organization.
C3 is working hard to get two new courses launched in 2021 that will help you move your organizations even further. Watch for announcements in the coming months about a field mentorship course and a course designed to help train those new to running craft training programs. It is never too late to learn something new.
