ABC Houston’s Annual Scholarship Program Invests in Future Construction Leaders

Associated Builders and Contractors of Greater Houston (ABC) is pleased to announce that applications for the annual ABC Scholarships are now being accepted. Offered to college students pursuing careers in construction, the scholarships available are just some of the many ways ABC Greater Houston supports education and workforce development.

“Applying for the ABC Scholarship was one of the best decisions that I have ever made,” said Curtis Lucas, a 2017 ABC Scholarship Winner. “The scholarship helped fund my education, jump-start my career with positive publicity, and help to alleviate some of the financial stresses that come from a demanding school and work schedule.”

To qualify for the ABC Scholarship, a candidate must be enrolled as an undergraduate student at a university or community college at the time of application. In addition, candidates are asked to provide two reference letters, transcript, copy of degree plan, and a typed essay.

“The ABC Scholarship was invaluable in helping to finance my education and allowed me to focus on my studies rather than my expenses,” said Christopher Khan, a 2013 ABC Scholarship Winner. “I have been working as an assistant project manager for an international consulting firm that specializes in commercial and industrial construction projects, and I am incredibly thankful to ABC for selecting me as a scholarship recipient.”

Applicants must be full-time students with a grade point average of 2.75 or higher. Following submission, applications will be evaluated by the ABC Greater Houston Chapter Scholarship Committee. The deadline to submit all applications and supporting documents is March 16, 2018.
