San Jacinto College, Department of Continuing and Professional Development

Description:With the Houston area economy humming there's a strong need for pipefitters, one of the best paying construction occupations. San Jacinto College offers two options for pipefitting training on a "fast track" schedule, enabling students to finish courses and be ready for work in as little as one semester. One program prepares graduates to enter the construction industry as entry-level pipe fabricators – workers who fabricate, install, and maintain pipes that carry chemical products, steam, acids, and gases. Such pipes are mostly used in manufacturing, commercial, and industrial settings. Pipefitting fabricators generally install and maintain pipe systems in power and petrochemical plants, as well as heating and cooling systems in large office buildings. They also install pipe systems that move steam under high pressure. This program is offered at the north campus location, only.

The second program offers courses that lead to NCCER certification as a general pipefitter. These courses are also use "fast track" schedule, enabling students to finish courses as soon as possible. This program is offered on the Central campus only.

These are non-credit, continuing education courses.
