John Hinson
John Hinson is Division President of Marek Dallas / Fort Worth. A native East Texan, he attended local Trinity Valley Community College while in high school, transferred to Texas A&M University and graduated in 1986 from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management Technology. He started his career with Marek Family of Companies in 1984 as a project manager/estimator, then moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area in 1988 as Sales Manager. He has served in his current position as Division President since 1989. John is currently serving as the 2015-2016 President of AWCI.
Actively involved in church, community events, fan clubs and youth sports associations, Hinson and his son enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, golf, tennis and the traditional “Big 3” Texas high school sports: baseball, basketball and football.
John has served as director and officer for several construction associations including the Dallas Fort Worth Drywall and Acoustical Contractors Association, (AWCI) Association of Walls and Ceiling Industry, (SFIA) Steel Framing Industry Association, Quoin (local chapter AGC), TEXO (AGC & ABC Joint Venture Association) and Topping Out Charitable Event.
He was instrumental in the construction of such landmarks as EDS World Headquarters, Exxon World Headquarters, Hunt Petroleum Headquarters, Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, Texas Motor Speedway Condominiums and Sports Club Tower, ONE Arts, Houston’s Wortham Theater, American Airlines Center, Methodist Medical Tower, DFW Airport Terminal D, Highland Park Baptist Church, Prestonwood Baptist Church, Firewheel Town Center, several Bass Pro Shops, Multiple Nordstroms, Crystal Bridges Museum and the New Dallas Cowboys Stadium.
