A Sustainable Workforce Starts With You

Why Safety is Important in the Roofing Industry

Focusing on safety is important in any industry, but in the roofing industry it’s imperative.  A company can do everything right in terms of production for their customers, but if safety isn’t a top priority, there can be serious repercussions.

Here are a few ways that a focus on safety is a benefit to not only the employees, but the clients as well:

  • Fewer work-related accidents means less work interruptions

  • Lower risk of liability

  • Peace of mind knowing that you operate a safe working environment

A company that places a strong emphasis on safety will have a strong safety program that incorporates new hire safety training, project-specific safety plans, internal and external site inspections, monthly awards, retraining, disciplinary procedures and more.  They may even have a full-time Director of Safety and partner with a 3rd party safety consultant to ensure that all of the training programs meet the U.S. Department Of Labor’s Occupational Safety & Health Administration’s (OSHA) regulations.

Roofing is a dangerous occupation and even with a strong safety program, accidents may still occur.  That’s why it’s important that roofing companies hire full-time employees, protect them with Workers’ Compensation Insurance and have full healthcare benefits.  When roofing companies invest in their employees and robust safety programs, everyone wins.  Read more about why BRI Commercial Roofing is committed to putting Safety First, and read more about the advantages of hiring full-time employees, both for the employer and for the employees.
