UTF Supports ACE Mentor Program “Build It Forward”

United Tool and Fastener (UTF) supported the 10th Annual ACE Mentor Program “Build It Forward” by supplying Protective Industrial Products (PIP) safety gloves and glasses for the students on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020.

The special program teaches high school students how to use specific tools and equipment in addition to building items with their own hands.

This year, the 20 teams comprising five builders each, built picnic tables for local organizations including Rebuilding Together, Helping a Hero, Cheyenne Center, and Boys & Girls Club.

“ACE Mentor Houston mentors high school students in the fields of Architecture, Construction and Engineering.  Mentors work with students in eight different locations around Houston weekly from October to April, introducing them to numerous different career options in the industry,” Angela Cotie, ACE Mentor Houston Board Chairman, explained.

“Build It Forward is an annual event where the students work with mentors to build a project (this year’s projects were picnic benches) that is then passed forward to other non-profits (for their use).”
