Six ABC Chapters Renew OSHA Partnership Agreement with OSHA Region VI

On July 21, six Texas Chapters of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and its member companies renewed their partnership and established a two-year agreement with the Texas offices of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the United States Department of Labor (OSHA), in order to recognize the importance of ensuring a safe and healthy work environment in the construction industry.

At the ABC membership breakfast held on July 21, Kelly C. Knighton, OSHA Regional Administrator for Region VI, signed the new contract, renewing the partnership with Texas ABC chapters through the end of 2019.

This cooperative effort between the two organizations will provide benefits to participating companies who demonstrate an effective safety and health program. The ABC and OSHA partnership objectives include increasing the number of construction companies that implement effective safety programs through mentoring, ensuring that each site has an effective site-based safety and health management system, and contractor officer training.

Since 2008, several Texas chapters of ABC have had an established partnership with OSHA to encourage and recognize companies that improve their safety and health performance.

Participating ABC chapters include Greater Houston, Central Texas, Texas Coastal Bend, Texas Mid-Coast, South Texas, and Southeast Texas. Partners include BE&K Building Group, Burton Construction, Craig & Heidt, D.E. Harvey Builders, E.E. Reed Construction, Fast Track Specialties, ISC Constructors, Karsten Interior Services, Ref-Chem, S&B Engineers and Constructors, Structure Tone Southwest, TDIndustries, Teal Construction, TNT Crane & Rigging, Trio Electric and Turner Industries Group.
