Metallica Rocks Workforce Development Programs!

KTRK-TV Houston, locally know as abc13, reported on Thursday that the Hall of Fame rock band Metallica has donated $100,000 to the two-year Lone Star College at The Woodlands, just north of Houston.  The initiative is part of a partnership with the American Association of Community Colleges. Eyewitness News anchor Gina Gaston reported:

“Students at Lone Star College can thank Metallica for new career opportunities.  The rock band donated one hundred thousand dollars to the Woodlands campus through it’s All Within My Hands Foundation.  That foundation was created last year to support workforce education programs in communities that have supported the band.  Lone Star College was one of 10 two-year colleges to receive a $100,000.00 check.  All of those colleges are based in and around stops on Metallica’s current tour.”

In December, Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation announced the 10 community college recipients that would receive $100,000 each, to support more than 1,000 students entering workforce programs.  The initiative is part of a partnership with the American Association of Community Colleges.  According to a release by the band's organization, these students will become the first cohort of Metallica scholars.

How cool is that?
