McCarthy Forms New Southern Region Civil Business Unit

DALLAS – December 7, 2022 – McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. has announced the formation of a civil business unit for the company’s Southern Region. Jeromy Shaw, senior vice president of operations, leads the Civil Business Unit, focusing on clients in transportation, rail, aviation, renewables, water, and commercial markets.

“Texas, and the region, continues to experience population growth that requires expansion of civil infrastructure. By restructuring civil services into a business unit, McCarthy is uniquely positioned to leverage our capabilities to construct the roadway, railroad, and water facility projects we foresee in the immediate future,” said Bryan Kuster, Southern Region president for McCarthy. “I am pleased that Jeromy will lead this work. He has been a valuable member of our leadership team for the past decade, and I have seen first-hand his ability to forge lasting client relationships and effectively manage multiple teams across the region.”

Shaw joined McCarthy in 2012 and has over 20 years of experience in the industry. In his previous role, Shaw was responsible for the oversight of the Dallas preconstruction team, leading preconstruction efforts for projects in key market sectors including roads and bridges, water and wastewater, renewable energy, and marine market sectors.

In 2019, Shaw was promoted to vice president of estimating for the Civil group and has been an integral part of large civil projects across Texas including the City of Fort Worth Hemphill Connector, the award-winning State Highway 45SW project, as well as the Northeast Water Purification Plant. As some public entities shifted from lump sum procurement to Construction Management at Risk contracts, Jeromy led McCarthy’s work for public clients including UT Southwestern, City of Fort, and City of Denton. Prior to joining McCarthy, Shaw worked on a variety of highway and bridge projects across the state of Texas, including the $56 million Southwest Parkway in Fort Worth, $103 million State Highway 121 in The Colony, $61 million Interstate-10 in San Antonio, and more.

McCarthy’s Southern Region maintains offices in Austin, Channel View, Dallas and Houston, Texas, as well as Atlanta, Ga., serving a variety of markets including civil, healthcare, aviation, renewable energy, mission critical, and marine. Shaw is based in the firm’s Dallas office.
