The MahaNakhon Tower, Bangkok’s newest and tallest, is a building that my “LEGO-loving” grandson would be proud of.
The difference is that this is a real building in the heart of one of the busiest cities in Asia. Designed by Büro Ole Scheeren, an international architecture firm with offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, Bangkok, and Berlin, the multi-use building, according to the article Bangkok’s Tallest Tower Also One of its Most Unique, written by David Malone, Associate Editor of Building Design + Construction, is designed to reflect the nature of the city below.
It frankly looks incomplete, but will certainly be eye-catching for anyone looking at the developing skyline of Bangkok. The 77-story, 1030-foot tall building developed by Pace Development Corporation will contain retail, a hotel, and condos under the management of Ritz-Carlton. It is designed for the luxury residential market with units selling from $1 million to 17 million US dollars.
The contractor for the new award-winning tower is Bouygues-Construction based in Sydney, Australia, part of the Bouygues Group in Paris. The company is ranked Number 7 on the ENR Top 250 List of international contractors.
Recently, the architect of the tower gave a walk-through of the tower on CNN profiles.
The building has completed its construction and is undergoing its interior build-out now.
