Jenga Three: Los Angeles

Los Angeles is the site of the next “Jenga” building in this series.  While it is not yet built, it has gotten overwhelming approval from the planning authorities and has even gotten approval from the Supporters for Environmental Responsibility who were holding up the approval pending additional mitigation for the site from the developer Jeffrey Fish of JMF Enterprises.

The proposed structure, on an L-shaped site that wraps around the Perch Building located at 5th and Hill, was approved last month by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.  It will extend 53 floors into the sky across from Pershing Square.  The “Jenga” design sits on top of a parking structure that is to be hidden from the surrounding by waterfalls and water structures according to the article in LACurbed.com.  There will be 109 5-star luxury hotel rooms and 31 luxury condominiums in the completed structure.  The building will link to the existing 11-floor Perch Building next door, a building that is owned by Jeffrey Fish.

The building will be built on a restricted site, and has been designed by the Miami based global architecture firm, Arquitectonica.  The “Jenga tower design” is created by the offsets and private pools that will be part of the condominiums and will cantilever from the building to create breathtaking views for the residents, hotel guests, and visitors alike.

The groundbreaking date has not been announced, but it is estimated to take 30 plus months to build this new Jenga Tower in Los Angeles.  We will track this one for you as it goes through permitting and construction.
