Firestopping 101 with STI Firestop

STI Firestop is hosting a one-hour seminar that will cover the key points of firestopping on Dec. 15, 2021 at 1:00 PM EST. The safety seminar encompasses the basics of life safety and code-compliant design for firestopping installation. It further covers major issues in design, including the coordination of various trades responsible for firestopping.

Additionally, a UL system approach for firestopping mechanical, sprinkler, electrical, plumbing and data cabling penetrations is taught, as is firestopping for joint construction and curtain walls.

Lastly, the seminar explains how design is affected by firestopping code requirements.

Learning objectives:

  • Identify the main type of firestop systems.
  • Understand the UL System approach to managing firestop compliance.
  • Understand the basics of life safety design, such as when, where and why to firestop.
  • Understand the codes and the steps necessary to design code-compliant firestop solutions.


According to STI Firestop, this course is approved for 1 CEU (AIA 1 LU/HSW) or 1 CEC through BICSI.
