CMEF Collaborates with Performance Contractors to Give Children in Need Toys for the Holidays

Construction & Maintenance Education Foundation (CMEF), the educational affiliate of Associated Builders & Contractors of Greater Houston (ABC), is proud to announce its collaboration with Performance Contractors to sponsor the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to give toys to children in need this holiday season.

CMEF is a nonprofit foundation devoted to serving the workforce development and training needs of the contractor community through programs ranging from craft and safety training to management and leadership instruction.  CMEF is accredited by the NCCER, and courses are taught using the nationally standardized NCCER curriculum.

“This holiday season, it’s nice to work collectively to help make Christmas magical for those less fortunate,” said Blair Williamson, Director of Training and Development at CMEF.  “CMEF plans to celebrate Christmas by serving as a designated Toys for Tots drop-off location.  Through combined efforts with Performance Contractors, we hope to reach more children throughout the Houston area.”

Performance Contractors, a Merit Shop General Industrial Contractor that provides all phases of industrial construction from site prep through start-up, is happy to be this year’s partner with CMEF.

“Last year, Performance Contractors donated over 1,100 toys to Houston Area children,” said Brandon Mabile, Business Development Manager at Performance Contractors.  “On December 19, we will be bringing donations from multiple jobsites to CMEF to benefit even more children in 2017.  In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, there are many families who cannot afford Christmas gifts, and we want to come together to support them.  We are proud to partner with CMEF and Toys for Tots to bring a little Christmas joy to those in need.”

Toys for Tots is a national charitable program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve that has helped provide happiness and hope to disadvantaged children at Christmas for over sixty-five years.  From October to December every year, members of the Marine Forces Reserve, the Marine Corps League of Veterans, and local community organizations collect toys, books, and other gifts for less fortunate children in more than 700 communities across all fifty states.  Donated items are distributed to the children most in need with the help of local welfare agencies, churches, and other community groups.  Since 1947, over 209 million children have been assisted.
