ABC Greater Houston Education Affiliate CMEF Awarded Approved Training Provider in Southeast Texas Area

HOUSTON, August 2 – Associated Builders and Contractors of Greater Houston, an association representing the interests of merit shop contractors and their employees, is pleased to announce that its educational affiliate, Construction and Maintenance Education Foundation, has been selected as an approved training provider in the southeast Houston area. Approved training includes crane operator, electrician, millwright, pipefitter, scaffolding installer, and construction laborer.

“We are very excited to be an approved training provider,” says Michael Richter, Executive Director at CMEF. “The construction industry is still facing a workforce shortage. With training and education, we can work together to bring more men and women into the industry and promote the many opportunities available.”

Eligible Training Providers (ETPs) are entities with job training programs approved by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) to provide Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)–funded training services. Local Workforce Development Boards fund training for adult and dislocated worker program participants primarily through Individual Training Accounts (ITAs). The publicly accessible Statewide Eligible Training Providers List (ETPL) includes all programs that are currently approved by TWC for ITA funding. The Statewide ETPL Performance Report includes data related to student enrollment for approved programs from July 1, 2020, through June 30, 2022.

CMEF is also aligned with local colleges and universities including San Jacinto College, Brazosport College, Austin Community College, Central Texas College, Coastal Bend, and many other craft training providers.

Classes will be held at the CMEF training facility, 2950 East X St in La Porte.
