A Sustainable Workforce Starts With You

ABC Greater Houston 2017 Chairman writes Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor:

This year, Labor Day is even more meaningful because there has never been greater opportunity for America’s workforce, particularly through careers in construction.

Associated Builders and Contractors estimates that the construction industry needs to hire a staggering 500,000 workers just to fill a backlog of existing jobs. That number could jump to one million jobs once America’s infrastructure rebuilding initiative is underway.

Like construction, many American industries face a substantial workforce skills gap. Fortunately, President Trump’s recent executive order is designed to expand apprenticeship and training opportunities to ensure we develop the construction workforce we need today – and tomorrow.

Learn more about the amazing opportunities in construction, how ABC Greater Houston is working with partner organizations to promote careers in construction, and available craft training by visiting ABC Greater Houston or ABC Workforce Development. Working together, we can stem the skills gap and unleash a next-generation workforce that will make the vision of rebuilding America a reality.

Sincerely,

Warren Adamson
