Amanda Fenwick
Amanda Booren Fenwick is the director of communications and publications at San Jacinto College. She has more than 10 years experience in marketing, public and media relations, and event planning.
In her role as director of communications and publications, Amanda oversees a staff of six in the marketing, public relations, and government affairs office that includes three communications coordinators, a social media coordinator, and two graphic designers. The marketing, PR, and government affairs team is responsible for the advertising, marketing, communications, media and public relations, social media, website content, publications, events, and crisis communications for the College.
Prior to joining San Jacinto College, Amanda was an event coordinator in the Mayor’s Office of Special Events at the City of Houston. There, she helped coordinate and plan major events such as the Tour de Houston, Freedom Over Texas, park openings, and the city’s annual holiday and birthday celebrations. As the contact for parades, she designed and implemented a new system and City policy for reviewing and approving parade and street function permit applications.
Amanda began her career in public relations at Rice University as an assistant sports information director. As such, she was responsible for the daily public relations for several Owls teams, including women’s basketball, men’s and women’s tennis, and women’s volleyball. Amanda designed and produced game day notes and team media guides.
Amanda holds a bachelor of science in kinesiology from Indiana University and a master of education in physical education from the University of Houston. She lives in Clear Lake Shores and has a one-year-old daughter.
