Emily Timm is a Policy Analyst with Workers Defense Project (WDP), a community organization in Austin, Texas that advocates for policies that build a strong and sustainable construction industry. She holds a B.A. in Development Studies from Brown University. Emily has worked with low-income workers in Maryland, Rhode Island, and Texas for over 10 years, and has worked with Workers Defense Project since 2004. She is a co-author of Building Austin, Building Injustice: Working Conditions in Austin's Construction Industry, which uncovered widespread safety and wage violations on construction worksites in Austin. Emily is currently working on the Build a Better Texas campaign to win safe working conditions for construction workers and to level the playing field for responsible businesses in Texas.
