A Sustainable Workforce Starts With You

The rock band Metallica has donated $100,000 each to 10 two-year community colleges to support students in workforce education programs in communities that have supported the band.

In March, the Associated Builders and Contractors of Greater Houston and its educational affiliate, Construction and Maintenance Education Foundation (CMEF), hosted a Workforce Development Breakfast at the DoubleTree by Hilton Houston Hobby Airport.  ABC members were given the opportunity to network and fill their breakfast plates as they gathered before the hour and a half presentation.

A group of college students from Auburn spent their spring break this year travelling to the Houston area from Alabama to volunteer on work crews repairing homes damaged during Hurricane Harvey last August.  Midway through their week of work, they were taken on a field trip to learn more about how the flooding during Harvey occurred and to visit an active construction jobsite.
