Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta has been called “the world’s greatest stadium.” The 71,000 seat stadium was built for the Atlanta Falcons. Reports from the first games in the new facility show that one thing is for certain, as we previously posted last year, the structural engineering used to design and erect the ocular roof is a feat to marvel about.
The Science Channel has recently produced a documentary on its Building Giants series about the stadium and the pains and successes of building the innovative roof structure. For those of us who regularly attend games or watch the Falcons or the BCS games held on their new home field, we can attest that this may indeed be the greatest roof structure ever built.
