Apple Campus 2 Replaces GCs and Begins to Take Shape [Video]

We have previously posted on the Apple Campus 2 and its unique design.

In the last two months, “after a series of delays and cost increases,” Apple, Inc. has replaced its original general contractors DPR/Skanska with a new joint venture of Rudolph & Sletten, based in Redwood City, and Atlanta based Holder Construction. The new joint venture is tasked with completing the project.

DeZeen magazine published an update article on the build of the new Apple Campus in Cupertino that Steve Jobs told the City Council would house 12,000 Apple employees when it is completed after 32 months of construction. The original completion date of late 2016 for the multibillion-dollar build is also in question with the change of GCs. Sworn to secrecy, no one is talking about projected delays or cost increases.

The building, designed by Foster + Partners and called the “spaceship” by some is shown in an August 2015 video taken from a drone. A series of progress videos clearly shows the shape of the infrastructure and the bones of the 4-story circular building.

Enjoy the 3:47 video below where the late Steve Jobs describes his vision for the Apple campus with overlays of current progress on the site.
